User interface perspectives

Postby Moneyman » Thu May 04, 2017 3:33 pm

 About The left shoe (falling) response to JAM's Black Sky initial post.

 A thought: A list of I want this and I want that is just not my cup of tea.

 Next segment refers to future postings with a lot of images and my particular perspective on the issue.

 Subsequent thread posts Green means proposed and blue means done.

Colony buildings ..... Should be combination avatar and ship overview.
Dome construction . Should be combination avatar and ship overview.
ISB modules ........... An avatar perspective is more appropriate.
OSB modules ......... An avatar perspective is more appropriate.
Transport grid ......... An initial master grid line and automatic expansion

 Content Descending ( ) segments in this initial thread posting.

Perspective ........... What is avatar and ship perspectives?
Subsequent posts . The point is to document and explain the difficulty.

 Perspective What is avatar and ship perspectives?

:) The point of a game is to enjoy what you doing with a very light backpack of tools.

 An avatar UI is the use of graphics so that a game task's completion is easy.

--- ;) Examples: Autopilot, Chat, Cargo, Contracts, site controls and icon buttons

 A ship UI is meant to give a RL feel to the current game sandbox location.

--- ;) Examples: Buildings, Gas scooping, Mining, Missions, Salvage and Starbases

 Subsequent posts The point is to document and explain the difficulty.

 Most of the I want this and I want that lists look like requests for tweaks.

 To me, that is initially useful but ends up as slips of paper tossed into a barrel.

:?: Isn't the next step to lists: Putting images and text together to illustrate what needs to be done? ;)

 The point of my posts to this thread is to illustrate a method to explain the idea(s).

:( The main drawback, of course, is it'll take forever to do each one.

:!: The thing is, I know my friends in this game, they are all very bright people.
