I like the idea but it could be exploited very easily. Players could make a career out of buying npc ss ships from all stations every 00, 14 & 45.

I think the time needed for it will keep that from happening. Also if you are limited to one per OSB like the shipyard then you would have to wait.

Why is this a bad thing? The ships are instanced so other players can still buy the ships, so no-one suffers.

I think this would be a good candidate for a DLC module as well. That way it will limit the number a player will have.

That is a great idea. As a DLC Jam can "charge" us for his time.

As a DLC it could work providing the time needed to re-cycle was in line with Class size. The main issue I have is that scrap value shouldn't exceed ship price. Thus timescale can be the leveller.

Would not think you could ever get back 100%.

Yes but I/m meaning qty back "X" scrap value shouldn't exceed ship price for classes 1-10 particulatly

I agree with dav on this. The prices of Class 1 to 10 ships reflect the NPC price for Tin and Niobium which is substantially lower than the prevalent price Players are paying. We need to be careful that the resale value of recovered materials does not exceed say 50% of the "going" price for a ship.

I get it now. Need to build a calculator and run numbers to see where the break points would be.
