Oh MY....how did you get a hold of my Yearbook Cheerleaders photo???
That's a very old picture, but the cheerleading outfit still fits and, yeah, its been collecting a bit too much dust lately.
I agree entirely with the point Wulf and MM are both making about needing communication from Jam and if this general
election would ever end, believe we're finally on track to getting that communication through our President, Ram. \o/
I'm sorry you've got a bruised nose, Wulf, and I agree....when is Louie going to get around to learning to type? LOL
Even when he does, though, Ram will still be a better spokesman because he speaks humanese.

Re: Ascent: Black Sky
Dropped in to check on the game for the first time in a while, and this is some pretty exciting news to find!
Anyway, the thread is a bit too huge to read in its entirety, but I just want to reinforce something RAM said way back on the first page:
I completely agree with this! The biggest problem I had was that there's not much of an "on-ramp" from early-game money-maker activities like mining to full-blown participation in the player markets. The ability to off-load some basic, easy-to-get-started supply chain commodities to Local Markets will give players a good way to make money while they work their way up to the more complex and profitable supply chains.
If there's any core system I'd like to see get a rework, I'd vote for salvaging. The actual mechanics for salvaging are fine, but the fact that you only get low-level ship and component blueprints from them is a bit disappointing. Trying to actually build your own 6-10 ships instead of just buying them from established players or NPC stations is an exercise in futility. So I think it'd be nice if salvage dropped some kind of trade goods or materials required for ship/module construction in addition to the blueprints.

There are a couple of things that have kept me from playing this game ALOT! The first and foremost is controls. I can't even play it on my Primary puter because I have it set up with too many Axis (For Simulations). No way will I Unhook Joysticks to play a game. Way too easy for windows to get confused then My simulations get their axis's all screwed up. The other is Lack of Polish and the fear the game will get dropped and I will have invested 100000hrs into gameplay and now I have NOTHING to show for it. Hello SWG, I am looking at YOU!
You have the BEST Mining Mechanic I have ever seen in any game and Once you get around the controls and general clunkyness, Making money is Not so hard! (Contracts for Uranium)
BTW, I just resubbed. You Just can't beat the Price and You really do deserve the support!

I got close to 10,000 hours. I played long before Steam. I still enjoy it and find lots to do.
Come join our quest for Earth. It has become very intense of late.

I've always thought the perfect game would be a combination of games like Anno 2070, Universal Sandbox, and Space Engineers. The idea of being able to build cities and space stations (like Anno 2070), build the things you need to advance (think Space Engineers), and explore a universe with (some) real physics properties. Need to add a game that includes managing trade, but not sure which one. I am so tired of games like Eve and Elite Dangerous where you can be busy building and someone pops up and destroys everything you invested your time to build - then they kill you.
Ascent is the closest game that I have ever found to my idea of a perfect space game.
One day I will win the super power ball lottery when it is a HUGE payoff, and after the government ends up taking as much of my money as they can - I will pay to create my perfect game. I will invite you all to come and enjoy.
Got to go, so many asteroids are calling my name I can't hear myself think. Must make the voices silent.

You basically sums up why I enjoy Ascent so much, and still keep dreaming of all the potential it have.
For trading I think a inspiration from Port Royale 2 trading system would be perfect for Ascent.

This is basically my thinking as well. The game currently has a lot very good content, but some is not working as well as it should and there is huge potential for more to be included given the time, effort ans, naturally, cash.
If only I could have a HUGE lottery win...

This is my thoughts as well...back in the old BBS days...tradewars 2002 was excellent as you had to discover the universe yourself and you were looking for dead ends in space where you choose to build a citadel and defend it with space minds and planetary defences so if someone entered it would cause ship damage and then they would run to safety or fight for your planet which you could then reattack and win back your planet and let it rebuild up fighters and space-planet defences again so you didnt not really loose everything..just setback a little while..TheSpaceGame is similar as we can choose to explore and build up our space stations and planets and stay safe or go to another part of the universe and fighter if that interests you...
I am still subscribed to TheSpaceGame to help the developers but have not seen any commitment recently to maintain and support the game or fix the remaining bugs to improve player stability which does not give me confidence that this game wont just rust out while all effort shifts to Black Sky so until I see evidence in continued support I have basically stopped expanding my part of the universe and only really pop in from time to time to make sure my planets are feed and start the next research request until things improve.
As far as Black Sky goes, do we have an update on what is happening with it..is there another website that is tracking any development discussions or is it still in concept only stage and at this rate wont be seeing anything about its potential development for some months.....
Any news available from Jam or his closest player friends?
