The Acropolis.
It's been covered in scaffold for some time. Necessary for purposes of preservation.

The temple of Athena- The reason why the city is called Athens. It once housed a huge statue of the god Athena from floor to ceiling. Shame it hasn't survived over the century's.

What remains of the temple of Zeus. Destroyed in an earthquake in 527. Hadrians arch in the foreground. The same guy who built the wall of the same name. Roman built built to keep the naughty scots from causing havoc in England. During the Roman occupation of Greece they considered Athens to be so beautiful they declared it one of the free city's. Thus is wasn't sacked.

We had a great mini break but the plastering machine was a disappointment. Very wasteful on materials.

Great shot. Glad you did not get plastered while there. That would have been wasteful too. 8-)

Glad you are back. Missed you.

Thanks ram.
