Update your Kickstarter to open up 1 to 3 dollar pledges. May not sound like a lot but with the amount of people who just back crazy kickstarter stuff just because they think it might be cool you would be surprised. Here's 8 retarded ones that got or are mostly funded:

http://money.usnews.com/money/blogs/my- ... got-funded

So add the basics here's my 2 cents:

$ 1 pledge (5000 pledges open)- yes we know you're poor but with this pledge you support us as much as you can. You agree this project should succeed but you don't want to throw tons of cash at it or you are just a dirt poor student who exists on ramen. REWARD: Get your name added to the donater credits as a supporter on the main web login page.

$2 pledge (2500 pledges open)- You doubled your support to our project, not only do you think this project is cool but you would like it to succeed and think that it will maybe cause you like space, or games, or science or you just decided 2 was an even number. REWARD: Get your name added to the donater credits as a supporter and get 1 premium selection for 1 month. This will get you a taste of the premium features of the real game for a short time, while not breaking the bank.

$3 pledge (1000) pledges open)- You are pretty interested in space games but still don't have a lot of money and you would like to see more and this kickstarter succeed. REWARD: Download the PC client for free and get 1 month of all 3 premiums with it. Plus supporter listing.

If you fill each of these pledges that equals
$5000
$5000
$3000

$13000 if my math is right. Which means we need $6k more to get over the funding hump.

Add: If you add additional ship add-on package to a pledge then you'll see a significant jump in current pledges but it has to be at the level in which they would receive the pledged reward.

Hawk Ship (Pledge $20) - Add on pack ($5) - Get an extra hawk ship (you are on your way to making a carrier fleet)

Cloaker (Pledge $50) - Add on pack ($10) - Get an extra cloaking device per add on to add to additional ships in your fleet. Wow, you are a real good smuggler aren't you?

Bowhead (Pledge $90) - Add on pack ($20) - You have just purchased a 2nd bowhead for your fleet, not only can you mine like the dickens but now you have a dedicated hauler or passenger cruise liner for hauling those greedy colonists out to your colonies.

Greg Mini-ship Pet (Pledge $90) - Add on pack ($25) - Now instead of Greg you can have your very own UNCA escort fighter to protect your freighter/miner/passenger liner for those of you who support the UNCA's efforts or rely on them for protection this fighter will assist you in combat missions as an interceptor.

SGD (Pledge $250) - Add on pack ($50) - You have big plans for your colonies, you want to jump ahead of the game and start terraforming worlds in you're own name. These can be added up to a maximum of 3 to your account (have to support SC limits for your colonies) as the funding for these rely on stellar credits you will need to make sure this device is used sparingly and on the right world you're ready to expand upon.

LGD (Pledge $500) - Add on pack ($100) - You are the god of terraforming. You will be seeding the galaxy with all of your minions in no time. These LGD's can be added up to a maximum of 3 per account (limited to support of SC limits to your colonies) as funding for these rely on stellar credits you will need to make sure this device used sparingly and on the right worlds you're ready to expand upon.

Lifer (Pledge $1000) - Add on pack ($250) - You are the ultimate lifer and not only exist to support this game because you are truly addicted but you also have a monster ego and must have this One Of A Kind EXCLUSIVE Palace/Pirate Den/Casino/Government Control Center building (pick 1). This building is for the ultimate lifer who must have something that shows the universe I am A GOD, I am king over all I survey and this building gives you that clout as the ultimate backer and supporter of the game. Be the first God king in game and our newly hired artist will craft a nice looking building to honor your ascension. It is after called Ascent right?

-THIS-

Thanks for taking the time to put together a balanced example of what I've been saying for a few days. This is by no means the ultimate fix by itself...but it should easily bring in a decent bit of extra funds from those like myself who'd like to see this. The game I came from did this in their kickstarter and I'd estimate it added a good 20% - 30% in pledge dollars.

The $1-$3 pledge isn't a bad idea either...I don't think we're likely to get thousands and thousands that way, but it's a good way to broaden the pledge base which also expands our visibility.

After that I'd say more frequent updates in Kickstarter. Each update sends an email to every pledge participant reminding them we're here and we're still progressing. Even if the update is just a comical event in your first KS experience, or a few thoughts on the game development...something to catch someone's interest and remind them who you are and what you're doing.

For the record, one of those useless Kickstarters was for Potato Salad. There's nothing wrong with that!

Also, I think Agamemnon's price are even lower than I'm willing to pay. I feel a Bowhead is worth $40 - it's the only thing I really care about from the $90 package. As I said before, I'm far more willing to add a couple hundred dollars via addons than upping the package and getting things I'm not really that excited about. I'm obviously not the only one that feels that way!

The $1/2/3/whatever packages are a good idea and certainly wouldn't hurt. Add them to the NPC pool too. People will like that and it won't hurt anything - even if they only come up every so often. :) Better do it sooner rather than later, it's already half way over!

Hi.

You should make Wiki easier to find and more noticeable for new players. I suggest you make a link directly to the wiki on top of the main page. Having to go via Help and community seems to make people not able to find it. Its a frequent question in game chat: "where do I find the wiki". They are quickly helped by other players, but those that are to shy to ask in chat, might never find the wiki.
Maybe put the link on top of the forum page also.

Learning this game without wiki is pretty difficult I think.

Keep up the good work!

How many players have quit citing the need to pay a whopping 99 cents to access six of the eight inner planets?

What do we get out of giving more away for free? How does this logically turn into more players and more income?

I'm not completely set against it, just would like someone to join the dots for me, because right now I don't see it.

top 5

price is not a real issue imo, don't believe i have heard anyone comment on it been expensive. and if i am not mistake there is a $1 support to say supported option in regards to a comment earlier. several have mentioned different pricing options would entice them to wards bonus items however not sure that is a big thing...perhaps if u had 1000 backers at 5$ then they is something missing atm looks like it would be a lot of work for a couple hundred dollars in options.

still really think this could get some traction from the human angle point of view, I know it caught my attention, quit my job and built a game, what a single person can do...so support and see what happens......to general (non game) media...ever wonder about quitting your job and making a game...title...Talked ram into writing up something like that and his story is great (thanks Ram) but not sure it's quick and catchy enough...short to the point..twitter size then max 300-500 words.

think most of the new player experience has been reviewed and the community seems great at helping out, new players from 2 weeks ago are helping so that's cool. think the only thing i would add is in the combat area... i would put a ship in janis that could be bought (new player) that is combat ready, it is really confusing and difficult to do the combat stuff in a lv 1 ship that is called a combat ship. and it is really easy if u know to get a bigger ship with at least a gun or two. so i would place a ship with a cl 1 axial two class 1 turrets in the janis station as part of the combat story line, allow them to upgrade ship with the earned class 2's? and lastly a STOP on the tutorial. with a condraz cadet u have gotten the class 2 turret and some blueprints to buy, as commander ? i recommend u get a better ship before trying out the higher combat missions. this has hit a few new players (and myself when i started) thinking i wanted to do some combat stuff and simple was out classed very quickly and didn't understand why. ... improve initial combat experience ...

minor tweak on economics, mentioned before but could do a minor adjustment to help...the common contracts are a little low and a common question ...can't find mining robots or blueprint ...and it just they don't know contracts change 3 times an hour, and it's random what shows up...minor thing but in the tutorial dialog..Susan should say (maybe more then once) something like 'buy mining robots at different star bases and check a few times as contracts change over the hour.. or something....... confusion of finding and handling contracts due to lack of understanding that contracts change.....

Tip npc's...at each starbase a npc in contracts that has a tip ...for example welcome to Vulcan where u can by the best iron anywhere we specialize in iron, every inner 8 system has a specialty like Cedes system has grain, we love Cedes grain here.
Ceres may have 'welcome to ascend, cedes is a member of the inner 9 systems and has strict governing of planetary landings if you wish to explore planets you will have to leave the core system' only reason i mention the landing thing is two players asked why they could not interact with the planets. and landing exploring planets is cool, but u don't know that if u don't get past the inner systems.

pod cast...any chance that one of the steam curators yourself and open forum pod cast could happen? or for that matter just a pod cast?
would be great if u can get a few profile folk on with u. help get some exposure. lest maybe desura can give some time of day.

i know it may seem a bit premature but if u are going for it anyhow......push pirates.....
the second tier of KS is pirates and u don't have first done yet (hopefully soon) but that doesn't mean you can't push for greatness....
another round of press releases...we are 60% done and on our way to pirates, the question i have for the world out there is what's a great name for a pirate and a clan of buccaneers? and get some interviews, tv spot morning show...anything for exposure...You have the game need exposure. oct 31 is coming up...good pirate time.

arts and craft....if you do any interview stuff, don't have a boring background....advertise..if nothing else have star charts, space posters behind you. not cluttered but it's ad space use it. personally think a nice planet w/ nebula would look fantastic.

you already do a good interview but never hurts to rehearse the message. decide what phase you most want them to hear and top 3? facts that you think will help you sell the game, what it has now, what it needs now and the VISION.

well that's it form me , the uninformed or ignorant not sure which with but makes sense in a way.

I never took screenshots, but there are people who have complained that they shouldn't be charged for it, and more that said they can't afford the $1 right now. (One even said that the premium is a trip to the vending machine, which doesn't seem like an equal investment to me since you get more enjoyment from the $1 you spend for this game).

But that isn't the problem I was trying to get at. There have been complaints (don't know if they've quit since I don't keep track of who's online and whatnot) that people have wasted money on deeds they can't use. They would buy a deed and then ask why they can't land on the planet like at Vulcan. If you spent a good chunk of your hard earned money on something that needs premium, and it didn't even warn them, would you be upset? How many of these players look at the deeds in the wiki? How many look at the premium info if they don't intend on buying premium?

As should be done with the ships that can't fly but are being sold, there should be warning that it isn't usable in its current state. Otherwise you get the users upset and that doesn't help player retention. To spend the money and then realize you need to spend some real money or you'll never see any returns on your hard work is upsetting.

The other option is to add more value to the Colony premium. As I said - there's not much value to it right now. The only value it provides for is SC credits, but to most newer players that really isn't of big concern. I did the other inner colonies purely for the experience of laying stuff down in preparation of making my first outer colony. Everyone agreed it would be a helpful experience, and to a point it was. Once I got them done I realized that I really needed a bigger colony if I wanted to make a good bit more materials. It was a good stepping stone, but not something I need to keep long-term, especially since I'm limited to the production of materials because of the relatively small size. So the Colony premium goes back to an SC only premium.

To the last part of the question, giving stuff away for free (that doesn't generally cost a lot) can give free players something else to toy with that might give them a deeper experience. The inner colonies don't provide anyone with a big enough boost in materials to mean anything as far as advancement in the game goes. But it does give them that experience, and when they hit the limit of what they will provide, they'll probably start thinking about expanding. Ceres and Vulcan might be enough for that, but as I said - I liked doing the rest of them just to get an idea of what each building might require (The Carbon Harvesters were a pain before I realized their power requirements). So I can't say definitively whether that would worth it to give them the other inner planets for free or not.

But what I can say definitively, is that the colony premium doesn't have much value to it and the deeds really need a warning if they require premium and the user doesn't have it. That last one in particular should be solved sooner rather than later, because it might be pushing players away.

How close it the game getting to be voted in on Greenlight? The last update I saw was from almost 3 weeks ago on Steam's page.

Is the add-on idea a possibility for this KS? We've got 10 days to go and $13k to reach. I'd like to think we can close that gap by a good amount if we added add-on's to it. I also don't think it'd hurt to add them.

Also, an update would go down well, things going on in game _new MP-MH gate, what you're working on at the moment. I think sooner rather than later.

I also think the addons would attract more KS funding, however you decide to do them, again - sooner rather than later.

10 days to go, I hope we make it!
